Love At First Sight

Love At First Sight
6x6, oil on board

Day 29 of 30....Once again I found a really good reason to by a sweet treat at the grocery store.  After all, finding just the right prop is critical for a good painting.  It was all for the sake of art.  That's my story and I'm sticking to it!  This little guy was gone before the painting was even finished.

WIP:   I started with a drawing of an earlier oil painting I did of this scene.  Then I began washing the pastel underpainting down with alcohol when I noticed the initial drawing wasn't right....so, back to the proverbial drawing board for this one!  I wasn't paying too much attention...just playing around.  Oh well...live and learn, and learn, and learn!

  1. The cookie is absolutely amazing. I had to zoom in to see if it was real or a painting. Your cellophane wrinkles and reflections are stunning.

    1. Thanks Kyla. It was fun to attempt it. I've still a lot to learn about oils.

  3. A super piece Cindy. I really like the job on the bag, such good shine and reflected light. Too bad about having to eat the cookie - what we do for our art!

  4. Hi Cindy. I have been out of town for last three weeks; so I'm playing catch up. I just cursorily viewed your postings for the 30-day challenge and you have created so many incredible and beautiful paintings this month that I am astounded. Just wonderful!!!!!

    1. Oh I'm so glad you were able to take a peek! While the month marches on it's hard to get perspective on how I'm doing. The first 30in30 was excruciating because there were so MANY marginal paintings it was humbling!!! 2 1/2 years later, there are now a few more good ones and a few less bad ones! Hurray!
